23-year-old Kalaiah Jefferson, better known as Scarface Lay, is a hip-hop recording artist from Nicholls, Georgia. She began rapping at the age of 10 as a way of keeping herself out of trouble. Although it wasn’t until recently that she began releasing music. After watching her mother struggle most of her life, she knew she wanted to do something that had the potential to help her family.
To begin making a name for herself, Scarface Lay relocated just outside of Miami, Florida, where she has since been performing in clubs, at open mic nights, and at showcases in the area. All the hard work paid off when on May 19, 2019, she won the first installment of the “Who’s Hotter Than Me?” Talent Search showcase, where independent label Rich Nation Entertainment was one of the facilitators and was awarded an EP recording contract with the company.
With musical influences like Kevin Gates, Kodak Black, and Cardi B, it’s clear that her journey is just getting started.
